Healthy Body
Exercise:
Gardening is a great low impact work out. Experts suggest that even low-to-moderate intensity activities, when done for as little as 30 minutes a day, bring cardiovascular benefits. Muscles can be strengthened and coordination improved. Studies have also found that working in the garden helps people who are sick recover more quickly.
Diet:
Eating a diet with lots of fresh produce gives you more energy; helps reduce weight gain, and may even reduce the effects of aging. Research continues to show that there are many essential nutrients in fresh fruits and vegetables that may protect you from cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Clean Air:
Scientists have known for years that plants can take up common indoor air pollutants, improving the air quality for the occupants of homes and offices while not harming the plants themselves. One common pollutant is formaldehyde, which outgases from many construction materials and is a potential source of health problems, especially in buildings with energy-saving, tight construction.
